Pearl Doesn't Like Preschool
Princess Pearl Pretty Kitty cannot find you! I hear tiny footfalls everywhere I go around the house, but when I turn around to find you behind me, it's a fuzzy cat with crystal eyes.
We dropped Paige off for K this morning, and afterwards you got to share a chocolate covered long-john with Drue in the school library. Fair? Let's not tell Paige! When we got home, you played happily by yourself most of the morning. Play-doh kept you entertained for a good half hour until you chased Pearl down. Then, I think, you started to miss Paige because you hopped into the basket beside the couch while cuddling Pearl and sucking your fingers. Yep, you still do that, but my guess it that it will go away when you see that the other PK kids don't do it. Just before it was time to go, you ate your lunch (PB & J with Cheez-Its) quickly. And boy, was that a first. (You are the SLOOOOOWEST eater I've ever met, including Kevin F!)
You were so excited when Daddy and I dropped you off. You walked right in and started playing with little blue, yellow and red teddy bears. I know you'll learn a bunch this year with Mrs. Sherman and Mrs. Bell. They are very kind people and they already love you, since they knew you from last year.
I've missed you today. Even though you'll only be away from home for three hours, it's a step your taking away from me. Please don't go too far too fast.

So long, Go-go
We went to see Dr. Allison on Friday for your nine month visit. We were a little late because when you were nine months old, we all came down with the stomach flu. It was your first illness. (It was the fourth time I'd had it since Thanksgiving.) You weighed in at 20 lbs. (50th percentile for your age) and you are 30 1/2" tall (100th percentile). You are really starting to grow and change now. You are cruising along the furniture and my legs and the cabinets. I expect you'll walk within a month. You are eating all kinds of foods. I've been giving you pretty much everything but honey, peanut butter and strawberries (they're on the no-no list until your first birthday).
You don't have any teeth yet, but you are in that stage where EVERYTHING goes directly into your mouth. Today you found Paige's pet snail, Go-go, on the ground. We're pretty sure he had been dead for at least a day, but she was still carrying him around. Before I knew it, you had Go-go in your mouth. When I got him out, Paige held him in her hand and heard his shell crack. I'm pretty sure you cracked his shell in your mouth. It was a pretty upsetting ordeal for your sister. We took him outside and buried him in the tomato pot on the back porch. I'm just glad you didn't swallow him. ;)

Passports
Our passports expire in 2012, and I was just thinking about how I'd really like to use them again before they do. It probably won't happen. Before you and Paige were born, Daddy and I traveled around the world. Well, not all the way around, but we went a lot of neat places. We saw the lights of Paris from Eiffel Tower at night. Beautiful! We lounged on hot black sand beaches in Santorini, Greece. Relaxing! We tasted silky, sweet gelato in Venice. Delicious (and only 1 Euro!). We saw the Parthenon, Big Ben, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Coloessum, the Grand Canyon. We skied down the Continental Divide. Before children (BC), we could do whatever we wanted whenever we wanted, but we didn't have you. Your dimpled smiles weren't there to greet us each morning. We had never heard your sweet baby voice say, "Hi," as we entered your room upon your awakening. We had never seen you crawl at lightning speed across the house to greet Dad when he came home from work. Our lives BC were fun, but we never knew how big our hearts could grow until there was you. So if our passports expire before we get to travel outside of the US again, it's no big deal. You and your sister take us on journeys we'll never forget each and every day.

Glitter
You have glitter on your head. There's glitter on the rug that I'll never get up no matter how many times I vacuum. I washed your glittery bedskirt with your sheets and blankets. Now they're covered too. Your big sissy leaves glitter wherever she goes on "Princess Mondays" and I suspect someday you will too. Our kitchen floor, the toilet seat, the dining room table, your crib bumpers. Glitterized! I guess that's what's so great about having girls. They leave sparkles wherever they go.
